How we have been helping Private Equity Firms

mobile: How we have been helping Private Equity Firms's image

Some things we have been hearing in conversations with people in our network: “Our costs are too high”, “Our backlog is overwhelming”, “We have gaps in our capabilities”, “We need help!”

At Ballast Lane Applications most of our clients are small to medium sized businesses that are looking to grow. Quite often they want to build and release a complementary product (for example a mobile app), or they might need help in a certain area (for example they might not be following best practices when it comes to deploying new code), or they might have a gap in their expertise (e.g. QA Automation). We have several offerings, including Consulting Services, Staff Augmentation, and Product Development, depending on the best fit for the client.

We have started to partner with Private Equity Firms because they tend to have portfolio companies that are in need of some sort of boost, or expertise in certain areas. These tend to be SaaS companies, though not exclusively.

We are currently working with 4 clients that are Private Equity portfolio companies:

  • A B2B Marketplace: We were brought in to help augment their team with designers, developers and architects that helped provide the foundation for their core web and mobile development engineering capability. This team works shoulder to shoulder with client leadership on the product and technical side.
  • A Cybersecurity and Compliance platform: We have been helping the clients’ software engineering team with frontend/backend development and devops to help grow the existing product, creating new features and migrating their tech stack. This team is working under client leadership but also providing key technical consulting in areas such as software architecture and devops best practices to set the organization up for their next round of growth.
  • A company specializing in document workflow solutions, fostering paperless document technologies and enhancing security measures: We were engaged to offer consulting services, aiming to enhance the efficiency of the quality assurance process. Additionally, our role involves implementing automation of the system testing to expedite the delivery process.
  • An integrated business platform for MSPs: We were brought in to augment their engineering team with senior backend talent to help their main platform grow in terms of features and functionality. We have also provided consulting on the mobile application front, helping with a fixed cost project to complete an app migration to ensure state of the art standards and technologies.

Here are a few things that our team can do:

  • We can provide a fresh, expert look under the hood at your tech stack, processes, resources, and advise on how to optimize.
  • Introduce best practices for feature delivery, quality control and infrastructure management
  • Provide senior team members to coach and guide your current team
  • Review and prioritize your roadmap/backlog based on perceived feature value and comprehensive level of effort estimations
  • Build and launch new features or products that your team doesn't have the capacity for
  • Provide the horsepower to complete a migration to a modern stack or up to date architecture.

Does this ring a bell?? We want to hear from you!!!
